mini basket of yarn ornament
Supplies needed:
Assorted colors of embroidery thread
Tiny basket
Glue
Ribbon or hang tag
Toothpicks.
Tiny beads.
I saw this little craft at a craft sale years ago but it was a crochet project. There are also several varieties on pintrest for this old but still very cute little craft. I came across a basket of tiny baskets at Goodwill and had to get them, I will probably use them as little gift baskets to hand out but I also wanted to use some for my Christmas tree this year. All these baskets cost me $1.50, that’s a lot of baskets for someone with a basket obsession. It’s okay though, because baskets don’t last long in my home. I am usually filling them up with something to pass onto friends and neighbors, which turns out is an old Swedish tradition…must be my DNA memory.
To make this adorable little ornament first you will need to roll up embroidery thread into little balls.
Find a tiny basket (at most hobby stores)
Before you add yarn balls to your tiny basket, fill the baskets with a little stuffing.
Then glue little balls of thread one on top of another into your basket. Make knitting needles out of toothpicks and add a tiny bead to top off each toothpick for a more realistic look. Poke toothpicks into thread and hang a ribbon or wire hook on your basket to add to your tree.
These also make great little ornaments for all those knitters in your life. Unfortunately knitting is not a skill I have mastered. I wish I could though because I love all those knitted items out there, especially the baby clothes and little stuffed toys.
these are ADORABLE!!!! love them

Aw these are so cute! Thank you for the tutorial! If I spot any tiny baskets, I will definitely give this a go! It would sit well in my doll house too when it’s not on the Christmas tree 🎄
