Mother’s Day is just around the corner here in the USA. In our country we celebrate Mother’s Day May 12th. Thought it would be fun to share with you all some of my favorite places to get gifts for any special women out there. So for anyone in your life that makes you smile, cheers you up, gives you love and great advice here are just a few things I like to buy those special heart women.
First place I love to shop for gifts is at a garden.
We just happen to have many here in our city to enjoy.
Anything pink is always nice.
Or a special frame with an old family photo.
I have two old photos that were passed down to me of both my grandmother’s as little girls.
Candles are always nice to give to others. These candles had such cute names.
For the baker, old rolling pins.
For the romantic, something pretty to hang on their wall.
And for the child in us all, a little rag toy always makes me smile.
Did I mention plants.
I think this is one of my favorite things to gift to others. Sometimes I think people forget to treat themselves every now and then with houseplants. That’s why when one shows up as a gift, they love it. Remember houseplants help keep toxins out of your home.
Just a simple rose is another one of those gifts from our heart.
Anything for the home also makes a nice gift.
Like this sweet little bird just hanging out on a mantle.
This metal bench would look beautiful in a country kitchen.
Or a tree. It is the perfect gift because every year you get to watch it grow, so it’s the gift that keeps on giving.
Some inexpensive gifts would be a bag of wild bird seed. Depending on your area, maybe some of you don’t like pigeons and in the cities they can be a bit of a problem, but in the country there are all kinds of wild birds out there that are fun to watch. In my garden, the only birds that come around are doves, lovebirds (they are green) yellow finches, and sparrows. Oh, and one wild goose early one morning decided to take a swim in our pool at 5am, honking away.
Jars are another favorite on my list to buy for others. They make the perfect package to wrap things in and they can be reused over and over.
Here are a few other things that would be good gifts for those special women in your life:
Handmade cards
A comfy shirt to lounge around the house in
A painted pot with some seeds and a sweet little garden pick
A day off for that special someone. Cleaning and cooking for someone else would probably be their favorite gift. Sometimes it is the time making memories and not buying things that are the best gifts.
For the crafters- any bag filled with glue, fabric, and an assortment of art supplies.
A good book and handmade bookmark
For the up-cycler- a nice piece of furniture to redo (make this one small) like a mini table, stools, trays, or an old frame.
Some of my followers that have some handmade items that would also make great gifts for moms.
Restless Roots– They have set up an Etsy shop and hopefully soon to be shop on their site as well. They are really talented artist that design furniture, cards, candles, signs etc…lots of fun unique gifts.
Michelle Le G– makes some really nice cards. I love the one with the mom upside down. Those humorous cards are always my favorites.
3cStyle— She, along with some blogging friends of hers, designed this really cool T’shirt with a nature bar code on it. So creative. You have to check it out.
Mel-at decor craft design https://wordpress.com/blogs/110322756/posts/1702 Mel is so creative with her flower designs, and you know I love all those flowers out there in the world.
For some free printable’s to make cards yourself, these followers are always really sweet about sharing that with us all-
I know I am forgetting someone, so please, if you are one of my followers and you create and sell pretty gifts, leave a link and description down below in comments. There are a lot of really talented people out there in the world, thank you for sharing that with us all.
Hope you all enjoyed shopping with me at the garden. Have fun out there shopping for all those loving women in your life that mentor you, spend time with you, and give you tons of confidence with all the love they share with you and others as well.
I have to share a little extra from my day at the garden shop. While I was exploring, a peacock walked up on me.
I could sense that he was a little mad and up to something, he seemed so determined.
I decided to head towards the antique area and noticed that the bird was headed that way as well.
He was in such a hurry. Wonder what was so important to him. Maybe he thought I was going to buy up all the good antiques.
Or he thought I was stalking him, might make me a little mad too if that were the case. Photographers are a bit stalky (I know, not a word, but you know what I mean) I really wanted to go check out the antiques. I can’t help it if this bird was also headed in that direction. And since I had the camera with me, why not take a photo.
I discovered what he was looking for…a fight. He found an old mirror and started having a fight with himself.
I got out of there. Nothing worse then hanging around anything angry. Hey, I didn’t start the fight, don’t look at me bird.
Happy shopping everyone and watch out for those peacocks.
you included a lot of great ideas, thank you! but the best suggestion was to watch out for angry peacocks! 🙂

They are pretty but they do seem a little angry sometimes with their feathers out.

I used to teach at a school in Coconut Grove, FL where there were peacocks. You really had to watch out in nesting season because they are fiercely protective of their young. They also love raisins, so I carried little boxes of raisins to sprinkle if they ever came after me.

That is a good idea. Next time I visit that garden, I will take a box if raisins with me. Thanks for the tip. Have a wonderful Mother’s Day.

GREAT GIFT IDEAS!!!!!! The peacock thinks he’s seeing another boy peacock in the mirror. The boy carpenter bees do that here, they see their reflections in our car side mirrors and attack them. We’ve already found one who hit the mirror one time too many, he was laying on the ground next to the car. I set him in one of my flower pots and he was gone the next day, hopefully, he was just stunned, and pulled himself together and flew off.

So funny when animals see their reflections the first time. They always get angry at that reflection because they think it is more competition. I have a carpenter bee flying around my garden early in the morning. Our neighbor gets freaked out by it and says they are poisonous but my husband will remind her they won’t hurt you, they just look and sound a little scary. Mine flies around my head really close when I am watering the plants. Then it flies off, happens every morning.

They sound big but they are pretty harmless! They like to check out everything that’s going on. Thank you for your nice comment!
