When it rains it snows…at Our Little Red House that is.

It’s that time of year again. That time of year that makes it impossible to drive up to check on our place because the days we have free are also days when big storms roll into our state. Every time it rains here, it snows up north.

We are desert creatures, having been raised in the city here we did not get a lot of experience with snow. Now that I know what it is all about I understand snowbirds. I would be right in line driving with them here if I didn’t live here. Seeing it from the window all snuggled inside is so beautiful but driving out in it everyday is scary, at least it would be to me.

One of my husband’s photos. He is the professional photographer in the family. I have been collecting and keeping his photos since we started dating way back when we were in our teens.

I do love snow, just afraid of the scary blizzards.

Thought it would be nice to share with you all some snowy days up at Our Little Red House. We were not there last year though because the snow was so high it was impossible to get to the place. Our friends up north sent us photos that time. Hope you all enjoy the photos and if you are in an area where it snows, make a couple snowmen for me and some snow angels too. Have fun out there everyone. Stay safe, dry and warm too.

    1. Thank you Lisa, No, no photos of me in this batch. I was mostly the photographer with the photos, except a couple my husband took. Well, my slippers were in one where my little rescued cat (Alley cat) is snuggled under the covers keeping warm. There might be a photo of my daughter on her ipad by the old cook stove, and the rest are of my son walking in the storm and another of him walking in the woods. There is a beautiful video on YouTube of a beautiful snowy day up north, it is so beautiful when ever it snows. https://ourlittleredhouseblog.com/2018/01/14/snowstorm-at-the-little-red-house/ the video is at the end of this post, just scroll down.

    1. Thank you. I remember when I was a little girl and lived in Amarillo Texas for a short time and everyone told me it was going to snow one day. I was so excited because I had never seen snow. Being born in Phoenix that was going to be my first experience with snow at the age of six. The next day when the storm came in, it was grey and wet and slushy like but not white and pretty like a Christmas scene. I was so sad, I told everyone I didn’t like snow. Eventually my husband would show me snow the first time when he drove me up north one year when we were first dating and it was a Winter wonderland of white. I loved it. I hope you get some white Christmas snow this year to enjoy.
