– snowman pin cushion
This would make a cute gift for any seamstress in your life, or just a cute little snowman to sit on a counter.
Supplies needed:
Cream colored felt
3 assorted sizes of lids to trace and use as templates
Sewing needle and thread, I used a large doll needle.
Cotton stuffing
Mini red pom poms to be used as buttons.
Two black tiny beads (to be used for eyes)
Tiny piece of orange felt (to be used as nose)
Black embroidery thread (to be used as mouth)
Small white pom pom (used for head)
Fabric scraps for snow cap
Old scarf or sweater craps to be used for tiny scarf.
Tacky glue
Scissors
To get started you will need to make the snowman’s body. Just take three sizes of lids and trace around them to make three different sizes of circles to sew and stuff.
After you have finished all your body pieces start making little floral shaped pin cushions out of each piece. Start by taking your needle and thread and starting up the center sew through and then overlap over then come back up through center and keep doing that while creating several sections around your circles. It will look like a little flower when you do this. When you are finished making each section just go back through center and tie into a knot and trim thread.
Now either glue or sew the three pieces together by connecting them all through the center then tie a knot and trim. I prefer sewing the pieces together because it helps form the body when you pull the pieces tightly together, it’s all part of the sculpting of soft fabrics.
Next glue a small white pom pom to the top of the body.
Add twigs for arms and glue in place.
Add two tiny black beads for eyes, a tiny orange felt nose (just cut a triangle), a black embroidery thread mouth, and itty bitty red pom poms for buttons. Just glue everything in place.
I took a small piece of fabric scrap and cut out a triangle shape, then sewed up the side and turned right side out and added a tiny white pom pom to top, this was my snowmans winter cap. Then a cut a small piece of fabric from an old green scarf and made a tiny scarf for my snowman.
. Happy crafting everyone.

Thank you Robin. Guess when you grow up in a city where it never snows you figure out ways to make your type of snowmen.

I like your snowmen better than the real thing. 🙂 I chose Kentucky to start a new life because winters were better than Nebraska and summers were cooler than the deep south. 😀

I need to see more of this beautiful country of ours. There are a lot of cool states out there that I have never been too. I bet it is pretty where you live. There are beautiful things to see in every state, just have to open your eyes and heart to seeing it that way all the time.

Yes! I grew up in NE Missouri, then moved to SE Nebraska, but didn’t do much traveling until I remarried and my new Hubby traveled the country doing industrial construction. I got to see lots of wonderful places and had awesome experiences while we lived in different states and had the time to explore on weekends.
It is pretty here with rolling hills and narrow valleys, winding roads, and lots of trees and fields. It’s much like where I grew up, but the weather is better.
But on the other hand, I loved every place we have traveled. 🙂

One of my favorite things to do is traveling but once we had kids my husband and I couldn’t afford to travel like we used to. Now we go on a lot of road trips here in our state. I also love reading other bloggers and their adventures out there in the world, then there is YouTube. So much beauty everyone shares with everyone.
