Our whole family loves pretzels. These are so easy to make too. Hope you all like this one. Warm pretzels from the oven on a cold Winter day is so yummy.
You will need:
5 cups of flour
2 1/2 cups of water
1 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Yeast
1/4 cup of butter
Mix into dough, let rise once. About 5 minutes before rise get a large pot of water and add 1 Tbsp of salt. 1 2/3 Tbsp of baling soda and bring water to a simmer.
Take about two golf ball sizes of your dough and form into a pretzel shape.
Then drop into simmering water for 30 seconds.
Then place on a baking sheet that has a dusting of corn flour on it..
Let your pretzels rise once again in a warm place for about an hour or until their size doubles.
Before baking brush on some melted butter and sprinkle some salt or any seasonings you like.
Then bake in a preheated oven at 400F for 15 minutes until golden brown and delicious.
Recipe and instructions are all from my husband. He makes these with our grown kids because they love going to the mall for pretzels and just like every other dad out there in the world my husband always says βI can make you a better pretzel then thatβ.
You can melt Velveeta cheese and Campbell cheese sauce together for a dip. Or for a healthier dip just use different flavors of mustard sauces. Not getting anything for promoting those brands, just what our grown kids like.
You can also make pizza pretzels by topping with pasta sauce and sprinkling with Parmesan cheese. Happy pretzel baking everyone.
Yummm

I LOVE THIS!!! I will have to try this this weekend. π How long do you let them rise for?

When I asked my husband that he said an hour, but them he added that until they are double in size. So funny though, because sometimes he forgets about his bread and pizza dough when he is baking and it will explode out of it’s bowl because it has been rising for awhile.

My friend, how are you doing? These look absolutely amazing! My mouth is watering just reading your post. I’ve seen recipes to make these before in the past but they always seemed entirely too complicated. You and your husband’s recipe on the other hand seems just right π Thank you for this! My husband and I just might make an evening out of it in the near future. Yum! β₯ What a beautiful way to make new memories too, right?
By the way, I’ve missed you & your blog. Yet again, I’m deeply sorry for my absence. 2019 was tough and I was dealing with some pretty heavy emotional stuff that needed to be processed. Still dealing with it here & there, but it was taking me away from the online world. I just didn’t have the ability to think, write, etc. I was drained. What a blessing it is to come back to your home here on the web and read your thoughts. I sincerely pray you and yours are well, healthy and blessed. You deserve all the very best. Sending you my very best love and hugs for the start of what I pray is a fulfilling, hope-filled new year. ππΌ

Oh, yum! I’ve been looking for a good pretzel recipe for years and have been so frustrated by them. These look delicious and sound so easy to make. I can’t wait to try this!

They were really good and the best thing to me is we know what the ingredients are. When ever we make fresh things they need to be eaten up because of no preservatives they get hard or go bad after too many days sitting around. If that happens (rare with pretzels and pizza) then we just give it to the chickens to be made into eggs.

That’s so true! Sometimes I find myself trying to convince everyone to eat what I made because it’ll only last so long. Perhaps I should get some chickens, too.

Chickens can be messy but kids love that about them. When my son was little he loved taking care of chickens. We are used to them so now we all take care of them, but they are very messy, so lots of clean up.

These look absolutely amazing. I love recipes that use just a few ingredients and although I’m no good when it comes to using yeast, I would love to try this one out. Thanks for sharing and have a good day π Aiva

Wish I could take the credit for these but these were all done by the family. My husband gave our 19 and 22 year old a lesson on saving money and making pretzels themselves. They are addicted to Mall pretzels, but those are so yummy, I don’t blame them.

These pretzels look so yummy! We’ve made homemade soft pretzels before but not for awhile. Move over sourdough, we’ll have to make way for a yeast bread recipe. Thanks so much for sharing.

Oh my gosh, they are so good fresh out of the oven, well, you let them cool a bit of course. My family sometimes gets impatient and eats them when they are too hot and burn their mouths.
