Some more fun to add to your Easter baskets. A few days ago I did bunnies and now it’s time to make some chicks.
Supplies needed-
Yellow yarn, wiggle eyes or plastic doll eyes, pipe cleaners, yellow or orange felt, cardboard, scissors, glue, ribbon and lace to decorate (optional)
First you will need to make a pom pom. Trace different size lids onto cardboard to use as your templates. Draw a circle in center of your circles and cut that out. You will need two cardboard disc for each pom pom. Make a large set and a small set, One will be for the head and the other for the body of the chicks. Once you have your templates cut out and start wrapping your yarn around two discs. I wrap two to three times around each set if disc so there will be a nice thick pom pom to trim up later. After you are finished wrapping all the way around, start cutting the center between the two disc. Once you cut all the way around, tie off the center then pull discs away.
Just like the pom pom bunnies you can get really creative and do different colors.
After you have finished your pom poms start gluing the smaller one to a larger one (the head to the body) then glue in pipe cleaner legs and let dry for a few hours. I use a lot of tacky glue for projects like this but school glue works too. If you are using a glue gun, don’t have children do it. Hot glue and yarn do not mix well and there is a good chance you will burn yourself, so be extra careful. You can glue eyes in at this stage as well.
It should look like this before you add a tiny felt beak (another laugh for you all, you know what a chick without a beak looks like), which is just two small triangles glued into the face area.
Add beak and embellishments like lace, ribbon or whatever you want your chick to wear. I think a Winter scarf would be funny on a chick.
These chicks are super easy to make, so save money and make basket fillers yourself.
You can make several chicks and have a ton of them.
Have fun being creative and saving money. Fill your Easter baskets with hand made items made with love.
Happy Easter decorating everyone.
Awww they really make smile. So cute💛

Thank you Mel, yeah I thought the huge chick would be fun to add giant eyes to. My daughter thinks that one is so funny.

Thank you Sheree, they would be a nice Spring time decor for any home right now. Surrounded by flowers would make that extra pretty too.

Thank you so much, you are so sweet. I am so behind on everything but I will definitely mention it and your nomination on my monthly updates next week along with a link back to your questions, I can answer your five questions now though.
1. Yes, I have smiled at a stranger before and regretted it. It was at a shop I worked at and he kept coming back after that smile. So many times it became creepy. I was just doing my job greeting customers.
2. Not sure how to answer this one. My daughter does all the computer “Stuff” I can almost hear her saying “Oh mom, you are too funny.” Anyway I am lost when it comes to what SEO to use.
3. What a fun question this one was. The store I would love to shop for free at would be any arts and craft store.
4,The one thing I would make illegal would be hmmm…most of the things I am against are already illegal. Oh wait a minute there are actually a lot. The misinterpretation and hidden ways the food corporations get away with putting harmful ingredients in our foods. The monopolization that the seed corporations are trying to do with copy writing seeds, which harm our farmers. Honey imported from over seas and not from local areas within ones own country, The deceptive ways Big Pharma harms instead of helps people (just my opinion) and the deceptive ways some politicians and people who research the safety of these drugs get away with one sided reports that benefit them and their stocks…whoops, got carried away there. Sorry, but I just can’t pick one I guess.
5.No. My daughter just walked in and she said we don’t use a SEO
Thank you again for nominating me and I love your answers to your own questions. Have a beautiful weekend.

Thank you Liz, I will have to check your creations out later. I know they will be just as cute as the bunnies you made. I hope to have time later to design some pom pom sheep but as of now my plate is pretty full for the fun stuff.

My friend, I absolutely *adore* these little chicks! They are honestly one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen. Such a precious way to liven up any Easter basket or Spring-time decorations in the home. Shared these on social media because everyone should see them. 🙂

Thank you Holly, so happy you liked them. I had to go way back in my archives to pull up a DIY post for Easter and this one was from my days when my kids were little. Christmas and Easter are my two favorite times of the year. It is also when I had both my children, my daughter was born December 12th and my son was April 8th so birthday celebrations were always apart of my two favorite times of the year. This Easter I had so many fun DIY’s to share with you all but then the virus hit us all and we had to shop, prepare and well…you know, life just happened and all my fun projects got put to the back burner. Hopefully I will have some more fun crafts to share now that everyone is staying inside more.

So cute! I’ve never seen that method for making pom poms before, so I’ll definitely have to try it out. 🙂

Thank you, I have little plastic pom pom makers as well but this is the way I made them when I was a little girl.

When I saw your Easter bunny pom pom craft I actually thought of making Easter chicks instead to do something a bit different to the bunnies so will be posting photos of them when I make them but yours are even cuter because of the pipe cleaner legs. I’m working on filming myself making them and will share with you.
