Thank you everyone, another prayer was answered and in a very big way.

Just a mini post to let you all know my uncle is off the ventilator again and last I heard he was slowly getting back to normal and trying to eat. As any of you know, being on a ventilator, even if for a small time, well it takes awhile for things to work normal again. He was on it for awhile though.

I have not heard anything about what is going on with my uncle as this being that old ugly virus going around, but then he did have pneumonia so who knows what is going on. He had not been tested the last time I got information. He has been in the hospital now for about three weeks.

When he first went in he was having seizures and they did not know what it was from but he is a heavy drinker and a pandemic never helps with that. There was no alcohol in his system but that in itself can cause problems if you are a heavy drinker. It runs in the family. I don’t talk about that. Even when my husband first started dating me I did not go into the details of why I never touched alcohol. I just decided as a little girl I was never going to touch it. I can’t even stand the smell of drinking alcohol. Of course my husband figured it all out the more we dated in the early stages when we knew each other and still to this day he will say “ I always learn something new about you all the time and I don’t think that is even half the story you have to tell” and he is right.

Sometimes I will slip and go into venting sessions, mostly here because no one really knows me personally in the blogging world. Sometimes we all have to get things off our chest. There have been many posts I have written from my heart that never got published and instead were deleted. Alcoholism runs in the family, and I have several family members who struggle with this. Some people have a pain from their past and the only way they can get through the days are by drowning them out, and alcohol is perfect for that, so please no judgement on the broken ones because there are a lot of them out there in the world.

There are no visitor allowed in the hospital. Family calls in for updates on my uncle. This is the new normal with hospitals and I don’t blame them. They are just trying to protect many people at this pandemic time in our history.

My husband’s cousin in Italy was sick with a fever for awhile and was having breathing problems but she is much better now and a week later she was feeling completely better. She lives in the red zone. The hospitals in the red zone areas are over filled and they told her to stay home while she recovered from whatever she had. Seems to be a pattern everywhere.

I think testing is not done a lot because there is a shortage of reliable tests available world wide. There was a problem with some test that were faulty…not sure what that is about either, but I believe it. There is some scary news going back and forth with that. I am not going to point fingers so I’m just going to keep my thoughts in a more positive light.

Anyway, guess what I am trying to write here is that the only one we know that has a direct connection to this virus is my daughter’s friend who just lost his grandfather to it that is from the Navajo nation. There was another friend of the family that died this month from pneumonia but again they are saying he just died from pneumonia and there was no word about testing him for Corona.

I don’t know what to think anymore with it comes to pneumonia being awfully high for this time of year in Arizona. Usually you don’t hear about this in March/April. Could be that they are reporting it more…again, I don’t know. My gut is telling me that this could be another way to down play events to not cause panic and I don’t blame anyone for trying to keep the chaos levels down. I just wanted to give you all an update on my uncle and thank you all.

Thank you God, thank you health care workers, and to everyone else who sent out prayers and well wishes. I know you all are going through your own personal stories with this time and it is a rough road for everyone right now.

I had all kinds of fun Spring themed projects, recipes, stories and probable a couple of my spur of the moment venting sessions I sometimes share with you all but I just never had time to get around to it. I usually visit more of your sites too, you haven’t seen my little red house logo for awhile, sorry about that, 2020 is turning out to be one of those years that we have no control over. My 80 year old aunt always says any morning she wakes up is a good day and she thanks the good lord above for it. For 2020, everyday we get is a gift.

Thank you to everyone out there spreading kindness and doing good deeds. I know a lot of you are making masks for people and let me tell you, those take work. It took hours for us to make 5 masks one day. The mailman needed 5 that day. We have never made these things before. I sew tiny teddies by hand, not masks. My husband and daughter were sewing away on the machine and I was stitching some by hand. They are not fashion statements and there were lots of “nailed it” moments the first couple we did.

Then my son had a birthday the other day and we had to make a cake for him and it wasn’t our normal cake we pick out from a baker. My son turned 20. I can’t believe how fast the years flew by. His favorite cake is peanut butter chocolate. My daughter decorated it. She said she wanted it to look like we went to the store and bought it…we are still in lock down. We had a giant restaurant size can of nacho cheese sauce and lots of popcorn so we are going to rent a movie from Amazon and have a nacho bar with all kinds of weird junk food we already had in our pantry. It will be interesting to see what everyone creates. Hope there are no belly aches.

Anyway, I had all kinds of fun posts ready to write and once again life just came at me and it had other plans. I will try to get my shopping post up and a basket DIY for you all later tonight when I have time. Still need to put that together and write it up.Blogging is my way to relieve stress, just a fun hobby connecting and sharing with others. I have to get back into my rhythm, but today I will be working on masks again. My cousin needs some.

I will be off for the next few weeks to catch up on some things. I will have some pre-scheduled post on though in those weeks I am off. Thank you for your likes, comments and visits. THANK YOU, A BIG ONE for the prayers and well wishes from you all. I will keep you all in my prayers too. Stay safe everyone.

Another update- just as I am writing this I am sitting next to my daughter and my cousin texted her with some new information on my uncle. Remember I do not use cell phones, don’t even own one. My uncle was incoherent a lot and they said he was confused in and out so they were worried about that for a couple of days. Now that it has been a couple of days of rest he is telling family that something happen in those days he was unconscious, something very spiritual and he knows there is a God now. I do not know all the details yet.

This is my family on my mother’s side and they are not really religious. I know this sounds too much for non believers but I have seen so many signs in my life that God is real. Like I have written so many times before, I am not perfect, there are so many mistakes I have made and still do in life, and I will never judge anyone who does not have the same beliefs as me, that is not my place or anyone’s place.

So please do not judge anyone, everyone has a story to tell. I happen to have many but my site is suppose to be about DIY’s and simple country and city living, not family issues. I just had to share this story with you because maybe there is someone out there right now who needs to read this, and maybe, even though I have no real way to show that everything I am writing is true, maybe someone also needs to read that not only do prayers get answered, sometimes they get answered in really big ways . Have a beautiful Easter week, God bless you all from all of us at Our Little Red House.

Just realized this was not a mini post. Guess I just don’t know how to do mini posts.

  1. Glad to hear that your uncle and cousin are both on the road to recovery. My aunt used to be so crafy and I wish she was here to make masks but she passed away two years ago and no one picked up her craft talent. Don’t worry about the long posts. I don’t know how to do short either. I even had a lady comment that my fiction chapters are too long .. like I somehow forced her into reading it. Oh well..I guess we are in the age of no one being happy 😉 Or maybe of some being happy and another large chunk not being happy. Either way. Take care of yourselves!

    1. Thank you Lisa, hope you and your family are well too. So funny when we think we are shortening things and they turn out longer then we had hoped, just have a lot to say I guess. I bet you miss your aunt a lot, she sounds like she was a lot of fun. Bet your kids would have had a lot of fun times making things with her too.

  2. YAY!! that’s fantastic news. Your cake looks amazing too, BTW. Happy Easter.

I’m so relieved to hear your uncle is off the ventilator and on the mend. I’ll continue prayers for him and all of your family at this time. I admire the stance you took as a young girl, to never touch alcohol. I did the same, but for different reasons. When I married my husband I learned of heavy drinkers on his side of his family (aunts and uncles and at one time his father who quit for the sake of his wife and children). Your posts are long, but also delightful to read. 💛

Oh, I’m sorry, I was offline for a few days and didn’t know your uncle was ill. It’s good to hear he’s recovering though and I’m looking forward to hearing more details of the spiritual experience he had. I think this virus might be causing some of us to open up more. You’re the second person I’ve ‘spoke’ to today about addictions. Yes, and me too – drugs and drink, but thankfully not anymore by the grace of God.
    Take care. x

    1. So happy to read this. I hope my uncle also has a bright future and I can’t wait to hear about what he experienced too. Sometimes it is hard to share some things with others but I believe telling some stories helps encourage others.

I am so happy to hear the your uncle is off the vent and doing better and of your cousins recovery as well. We need to here more stories like that. I often tell people “if you got up this morning then God has a job for you to do”. It sounds to me like you uncle got his assignment direct from God.
    Take care and breathe deep.

    1. Awww…thank you Ruth. Hope you and your family are well and keeping busy of course. Some of us here in the city don’t have a lot of space to stretch our legs but at least we can get out for walks now and then. You and your family have a beautiful Easter morning.

Keeping busy and focusing on gardening is what is getting us through this. We have seedlings started in our hoop house and have 6 chicks in a brooder. I am thankful we can get outside each day and even if the weather is not nice enough to work outside we still have to take to dogs for their walks. Wishing you and yours a Blessed Easter.

That’s such good news about your Uncle coming off the ventilator. It’s an awful time to be poorly and to be a loved one when you can’t go in to see them and be with them, so I can only imagine how tough this has all been.

A very Happy (belated) 20th to your son, too! 🎉Mmm the cake looks delicious. I love icing and that just looks… yep, my mouth is watering!

Take the time away to focus on what you need to do, we’ll all still be here whenever you next can/want to to.

Fingers crossed for your uncle. I really, really do hope he can be conscious and more focused, and that over time his body can get stronger.. Sending prayers & love to you and your family  ♥

    Caz xx

    1. You are so sweet, thank you. He is home now and resting. He did not test positive for the virus, they did a test on him and thankfully he didn’t have that.
