It’s all about the birds.

DSC_7624.JPG
This white winged tip dove was in our Arizona room one early morning just sitting on the couch, My husband looked at me and said the bird just doesn’t want to leave. Had to gently catch her with a towel because leaving all the doors open didn’t help. I feed the wild birds early in the morning but this one just couldn’t wait I guess, so she flew inside as soon as my husband opened the door. She was released but never left. One morning she got into the larger chicken coop and was walking around with them like she was a chicken waiting to be fed. The next week she got into the baby chicks pen and was towering over the babies walking around with them, waiting to be fed. This bird will even fly down as soon as I come out in the morning and land by my feet waiting for food. Such a funny little creature. Doves are not normally this tame.

Been getting a lot of bird therapy in this past week. Just some humor there, but I think you all know what I am talking about. It is good to get out and just be.

Peacock at the city garden.

Going outside was such a treat and a much needed break from real world things. I thought I share some of the photos I have been taking from around our home and our city. Not getting out a lot, staying put for awhile. It is just too hot anyway. This is what a Phoenix summer is like, like a pandemic lock down anywhere else. Normally I would call this post “A week of photos” which is a post I will do every now and then.

And to change things up a bit, I thought I do them all in black and white. I am also adding the colored ones too.

Our world is suppose to be filled with colors, all colors and all shades of colors too. Seems the world I am witnessing now has only two ways to view it. There are no grays or in between areas with different views anymore.

You are either on one side or the other and each side hates the other. What about the middle people? The middle people see many views and many things…there will never be just one side for them. They are the peacemakers, the healers, the lovers, and the doers. I hope we all start seeing all those beautiful colors out there in the world again with no fear and no judgments attached. So much better that way.

If you enjoy looking through beautiful photos then check out some of these bloggers I have listed below, they all have an artist eye for things. I love their post on photos. Takes me away to another place.

Some old art my kids drew up over a decade ago. This is a fun project. Buy some used canvases, paint over them with a plain primer, then have your children draw on them. After they are finished you paint them and fix them up. I used a 3 dimensional glue to the tops after I painted their drawings so it looks like resin over the drawings. A family project everyone contributes to. Been cleaning and organizing my craft closet and came across these…finally finished them.

Organizing a pile of vintage ribbons that hopefully will be in my craft kits I want to create and sell. I am getting there, one baby step at a time. We need to create more, we need to find our passions.

Told my husband that shopping now days reminds me of candy land game, and now we can add driving to that. Only being able to push our carts in one way lanes, and two shopping carts distance between each other. Doesn’t it seem like Driving rules?. At least our shelves are full again and there is no longer any panic buying.

  3. Hello Cheri I’ve missed your posts. What a difference it makes between the black and white and colour photos. Yes, colours are important for the soul. Love the colourful little basket you made, the funny and sweet story of your dove guest, your kids’ paintings and the bottom shelf chocolate cake with the roses. 🌈 🌞 🐦 💚

    1. That cake display was just too pretty not to take a photo. Thank you and I hope you are all well and having fun writing that book. Halloween with pumpkins and scary ghost stories have all been fun. I can’t wait for the Fall and Winter. I always look forward to the holidays here.

You would be in bird heaven at our house. We’ve always had a nice variety, but this summer, our backyard looks like a bird sanctuary. There are sooooo many all throughout the day. Some of them are a bit cheeky, so they try to build nests in our garage which we sometimes leave open during the day to let the extreme heat out. I guess, they want to escape the sun too. 😀

    1. So sweet, I am such a bird fanatic. When I was a little girl I had a pet peacock named Baby and a pet sparrow I saved as a chick that I named BeBe. The sparrow became an adult and was very attached to me, so funny when she would fly down from the trees in our yard and land on my head. The neighbors always were shocked when they saw that. I have an old photo of Bebe in one of my Barbie strollers.
