A walk to the lake.

“In every walk with nature one receives far more then he seeks.”

                               John Muir

While up north, we spent more time out in nature instead of doing house repairs on Our Little Red House. Sometimes we all need a little break from life’s responsibilities. Being outdoors is always so peaceful, a great way to heal one’s soul. The temps are coming down, early in the morning it gets a little chilly up on the rim.

One morning we decided to walk down to one of the lakes in our area. There are several lakes up in the rim country.

Tiny wild flowers dotted the trail every few feet.

It was so quiet.

When we got closer to some trees a giant Heron flew out in front of us. We all jumped at first, then watched in awe as the Heron flapped it’s giant wings and flew away from us.

Those birds always remind me of Pterodactyl dinosaurs.

There must have been a nest near by because it flew back to the same tree as soon as we walked further away.

There were lots of little animal tracks down at the foot of the water. When my kids were little we would have fun trying to figure out what animals belonged to each track.

Ducks and other types of birds would fly out every now and then the closer we got to the lake. I wish I knew all the names of the different birds in Arizona. There are several Blue jays here by the lake and those are always a treat to see. This is the back end of the lake. It is not a big lake but it does get bigger from the font end where most people drive in and bring their boats.

Way off in the distance, a safe distance, I could see some people out fishing. In small towns the rules on masks wearing are more relaxed. Being outside we don’t have to wear them. In the city, even outside in public places, masks wearing is required. Not everyone follows this, but most do.

This is one of my favorite walks. When my children were younger we would go out here to work on gross motor skills. Giant logs are the best things to play balancing games on when practicing those skills.

Hope you all enjoyed this walk with us and that you also get a chance to head outside to the great outdoors to see the little birds and enjoy nature. Happy walking adventures everyone.

Beautiful quote and beautiful photos. We try to go hiking and biking as much as the rainy Irish weather lets us. The days are getting shorter and colder and we are in awe of changing seasons. I hope all is well. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊 Aiva
