A pot of Christmas and a basket of cheer.

A pot of Christmas and a basket of cheer.

Look what I found organizing up at Our Little Red House….some of my handmade ornaments we made one year.

While up north when I was trying to get an art station together I came across some old ornaments me and my kids made one night while it snowed up north. Here I was, having the time of my life organizing art, pulling out drawers of supplies and there it was, a pot full of memories.

I don’t really mind organizing art supplies. Paper work, not so much, but colorful paints and pens I love going through. These are all left over supplies from my volunteer days of teaching arts and crafts at the little library in town. But you all know what happened…the lock downs and restrictions happened, that’s what. So an art station in my home it was.

When I came across this pot of Christmas items I wanted to stop everything and start decorating for the holidays. It put me in the Christmas spirit when I came across them. I also had a basket of pine cones too. Everything I needed to start Christmas a little early. Wow, do we all ever need that now. This post was written in November and this discovering of past Christmas treasures was discovered before Thanksgiving here in the USA. Which is a little too early to decorate for Christmas.

There was a cowboy pom pom snowman.

A little fabric pillow that I sewed and stuffed then painted a snowman on.

These little stuffed ornaments are so easy. Just cut out a pair of squares or rectangles and sew together inside out. Leave an opening to stuff after you have sew all around and then turn right side out, stuff then sew shut. Add a ribbon to top to hang from and paint holiday themes on your ornaments.

Paper birds, a paper star garland sprinkled with glitter, buttoned hearts and multi colored beaded snowflakes. These little ornaments were so fun and easy to make.

As always Alley cat was close by to supervise the whole thing. What I really meant, was that she had a nice long nap hanging out with Raggedy Ann while every once in awhile taking a peak to make sure I was getting things done.

I did decorate for Christmas early while up north. Can’t wait to share with you all this years frugal decorating for the holidays at Our Little Red House, which included some of these tiny treasures from the past.

Happy finding forgotten treasures everyone.

    1. Thank you, you can use fabric pens or fine tip paint pens for better detail. Snowmen are my favorite to decorate with. I bet a cute little hedgehog would be adorable too.

I love your handmade Christmas ornaments, and I love your work station; it looks so neat! One of my favourite things to do is to organise Ericeiras arts and crafts corner at the end of each day. Somehow gathering all the pencils and paint brushes and stacking them nicely makes me happy and content 😊
