“ The woods were God’s first temples.” quoted Anne softly.
“One can’t help feeling reverent and adoring in such a place.I always feel so near Him when I walk among the pines.”
Anne of Green Gables
A New Year is headed our way. I can’t believe we are so close to that. I am packing up Christmas decor a little early this year. As you all know, we bought a real tree and living in an Arizona desert dries things out fast, so the tree had to go out fast. Even though I added water to the dish under my tree it didn’t matter. The poor tree became a fire hazard. I had to take it down for that alone. I still have plenty of little fake ones.
Just like taking each week to unpack Christmas decor from our attic when we started decorating for the holidays, I am also slowly taking each day and packing it all back up. It can be a little sad taking down the holiday decorations too early so it is best to not do it all at once. Makes the house seem so bare and empty afterwards, too much of a shock. Everyone loves the Winter wonderland that this season brings.
A little tree in a pot I ended up getting from a friend’s gift card, will stay up longer,. Along with some little things here and there. Keeps the season in our home a little longer. My nativity is still out. Most of our decor doesn’t get packed completely until after January 6th.
I packed up all my bottle brush trees though. I have been collecting them through the years.
I have a variety of them.
My favorites are some tiny vintage trees I picked up one year at an antique store.
They get packed away in an old wooden tool box that is deep enough to hold them without crushing them. They can stand up in the box.
I love the different sizes and hope to some day have a forest of them to fit a huge shelf.
I think they are so adorable and remind me of the woods which as you all know I love.
I wonder if I could make my own someday. I should look that up and see how these are made. Might be fun to get some bottle brushes and cut them down into little trees.
Anyway, that’s what I did today. Just cleaning up and organizing Christmas decor. Have a Happy New Year everyone from all of us at Our Little Red House.
