Christmas trends 2021

Every year, I always look forward to seeing what new products come out for Christmas season. My first job I had when I was a teenager was an old fashion toy store. The owners were retired school teachers and they opened up two educational toys stores after they left teaching.

Working in a toy store for Christmas was so much fun. I remember the mall I worked at had animated animals with faux trees and faux snow everywhere on the trees. It was like walking through a Disneyland forest with deer and fawns moving their heads up and down. There was a huge waterfall in the center that they decorated like a winter wonderland with little forest critters everywhere. It was so pretty.

Before they would open the mall, the employees could walk around with the Christmas songs playing through the intercoms. Not a soul was around except the occasional employee going in to open their stores. There were a couple fast food chains open for the early employees serving hot drinks and breakfast meals.

An hour later, when the mall would eventually open to the public, it would get packed in that little European styled toy store. We did free gift wrapping with every purchase if the customers wanted and they did, they always did. I was the main wrapper when I wasn’t on the sales floor helping mom’s and dads, uncles and grand parents and even an occasional sibling pick out a toy gift for those little ones in their lives for Christmas.

Christmas products and this time of season is so much fun to me. I love going out there to see what is new every year for the holidays. Thought I share a few photos of some of the things we are seeing here in Arizona. Depending on your country or state, maybe you have different items to choose from. Here are some of the trends I am noticing in all our stores here in Arizona this Christmas.

Rose gold and gold. This is still a popular color.
Traditional and rustic decor. This is my favorite style.
Silver. Reminds me of my grandma’s silver tree.
Vintage. I also love this look, especially the snow men.
They have some cute Santa’s this year.
Red and white color theme. Candy canes and peppermint candies everywhere. I do a lot of red and white in my decor too.
The gnomes are still around. I think they are cute. I have done the red and white color theme for years now. I have some Scandinavian decor in my holiday decorations that remind me of my childhood and growing up around my Swedish family from my mother’s side.
Lots of Gingerbread themed items out this year.
I’m also noticing a lot of these cone shaped trees too. These would be such an easy DIY. With the shortages this year I am also noticing a ton of this kind of merchandising. Where they take several items and space them out on one whole isle to give an illusion of fullness.
I love little trees. Makes it easier to create your own tiny forest in your homes.
I don’t think Snow Men will ever be unpopular. They will always stay trendy to me.

And last but not least… Nutcrackers are still as popular as ever too.

Do you have any favorite decorating styles for Christmas? The thing I didn’t see a lot of this year were nativities and angels. I remember when angels were very popular. They used to have so many beautiful angels to choose from. My favorites were always the bisque Italian cherub ornaments. I have four nativity sets and a couple really tiny unique ones. If I had to choose a style from the trends this year I would probably pick the traditional style that is more like nature and simple. There is beauty in simplicity. Happy decorating everyone.

All are beautiful but I my favorite is the first picture, traditional. I have also noticed a lot of blue the last couple of years.

    2. Oh yeah, there is some blue out there too that I have noticed and purple is starting to show up. Not really traditional colors but still pretty. I love the traditional, always will.

    1. I am so happy to see you back on, I love your visits. I hope you and Frank and your newest furry family member ( I already forgot her name, or his name…man I am terrible at keeping up and remember the details) are having a great holiday season. I know you guys are having a Winter Wonderland over there, I bet it is beautiful. If I haven’t heard from my blogging friends I get to thinking and praying you are all okay, sending you well wishes and prayers that you are safe, happy and healthy. The world is a little scary right now, I hope Christmas gives us all the break we need. A time to think of each other and the ones we love. You guys have a wonderful week and a wonderful Christmas season too.
