Kitchy, retro, wooden Christmas ornaments I bought for 2021

Here they are, not as many as years before, but I still found some nice ones. This is what I was able to find in 12 months of shopping. You can find whole sets of these on Ebay, even Amazon. They also sell these ornaments on Etsy.

One of the ornaments I saw online sold by itself for $13. I like shopping for these ornaments in person though, part of the entertainment. I have some repeats that came together as a set and you all know how that works. In order to buy the one you don’t have, you get one connected to the price of one you do have. Doesn’t matter, I figure some day my two kids will split this collection up and they will have repeats that they can both have. That is if they want them.

Do any of you have collections that you have started? My aunt’s friend used to collect snow babies. My old boss from years ago collected Dept. 56 village houses, and my husband’s high school friend collects nutcrackers. I also have a friend from high school that collects an ornament every place she visits while on vacation.

A little angel with a horn.
Tiny grey mouse in a train.
little toy chest.
One of my favorite ones I found this year. Love Noah’s ark.
This is a new tin solder for my collection. The first time I found one on a drum.

This little snowman needs a touch up. I may sand him down and paint a new design on him later.

Most of these ornaments were marked Made in Twain or Adler. I love how colorful they are. For more history on Adler here is a link on this family company that makes a lot of our Christmas decor https://www.prweb.com/releases/2004/06/prweb131634.htm

And as always, since I was out shopping for one type of ornament, I would come across some really nice ornaments that were not exactly like the ones I collect but so pretty and cute, I purchased those too. They were all really inexpensive and this is one of my Christmas traditions every year, shopping for vintage trinkets. The most I paid for an individual ornament was $5, which was a little vintage felt doll. The lowest I paid for an ornament was .10 cents.

That’s it this year, Happy shopping adventures everyone and I hope you all are having a very Merry Christmas.

These are all very charming. I think my favorite is the ice skater grabbing the wall. That is how I ice skate! The toy train (with the blue) reminds me of a wood carving my dad made. I have several Dept 56 houses which I display at Christmas. I bought them at estate sales. I also have a collection of Fire King peach luster dishes. These I usually find when we are traveling and visit an antique store. It kind of gives us an excuse to visit a flea market, antique store, and the cost for an individual piece isn’t too much. Nice collection of the wooden ornaments.

    1. That’s funny about ice skating, at least you can skate enough to hold onto a wall. Dept.56 houses are so beautiful around tables and displayed for Christmas when the lights are on. I like their Snowbabies too.

  2. I really like those wooden ornaments. They remind me of the Steinbachs and bring back some good memories of my Grandmother’s house. She used to collect wooden ornaments from her travels. I wish I had some of those.

    1. Thank you, my grandmother had some of these as well, think that is why I like them. They still make really beautiful folk art type ornaments like these in Germany and Sweden that they sale at their Christmas markets. In some of our tourists shops around Arizona you can find the expensive ones for sale that they import from those countries over here. They tend to be pretty pricing depending on how many are made in each edition. These that I am collecting are the cheaper vintage varieties but I think they are still super cute.
