A little break now and then is okay…some fun Christmas shows to watch.

No matter how you celebrate this time of year, everyone needs time to just relax and take a breather every now and then. Thought I share with you a list of some favorite movies of ours that we enjoyed watching over the years for the holidays. Sitting down, having a nice cup of cocoa or coffee, reading a good book or watching a good show, these are my favorite things to do when taking a break. Here are some fun ones to watch for any of you that need a little break time too.

The Nativity story

Christmas story

It’s a wonderful life

Home alone

Polar express

Most of these movies you can watch on Netflix or Amazon. We don’t have Amazon at the moment. We stream shows now. We cut the cable cord years ago. Now we rent streaming channels on a monthly basis . Mostly watching over the air and Youtube for entertainment but even that seems to be changing so who knows what it will be like years from now when it comes to shows we watch. To be continued as they say. Might just have a whole library of vintage books to read instead of screen shows. We also have a huge library of VHS and DVDs in our library up north.

What I watched from my favorite vloggers this month.

Nicci Positano did a whole month of posting everyday on what it’s like in Italy for Christmas. I have so many that I really enjoyed watching. This is one of my favorite ones she did because of all the beautiful Nativity scenes everywhere. So much detail. They even have little water fountains that have water running out of them and little rivers with boats.

Christmas tree cookies- i think I might try these.

Parisienne Farmgirl makes a gingerbread house. I still need to make my gingerbread house. For now I am having fun watching others make theirs.

I haven’t felted in so long, hope I didn’t forget how to. Just kidding, it’s pretty easy to do. And the American Viscountess is doing a whole week of Mapperton Christmas vlogs. This episode shows everyone how easy felting is.

Midwinter in Northern Swedish village. A Swedish Christmas. I love the snow, the trees, the adorable pink cheeks on babies… such a talented vlogger.

For the little ones here are some fun animated classics. I haven’t had a chance to watch all the way through but later I hope to see Charlie Brown Christmas and the Little Drummer boy. I remember watching that every year for Christmas. Not sure if those two shows are on this clip.

Mega Classic Christmas compilation.

On Netflix I watched two really cute Christmas stories.

A castle for Christmas- Remember Brooke Shields? She is the main star in this movie about an American writer who heads over to Scotland and falls for a castle, but the castle has a mean grumpy Duke in it. You all know where this is going. I watched this movie all the way through, not once did I have to turn it off because some political propaganda showed up in the middle of it…nope, this was a good one, just a silly corny Christmas show. What a relief to finally have found one…and you all know what I am saying about that.

Christmas in the heartland- another safe Christmas story where everyone ends up getting along in the end…well almost everyone. This is actually one for the younger ages, like kids and tweens. I still enjoy a story about switching roles. Remember that show where the wives would switch families and run different households ? What happened to that? I believe that series started in the UK and then they made an American version. Can’t remember. Anyway, Christmas in the heartland is one of those stories.

That’s it for me so far. I haven’t had a lot of time to watch much. Just little breaks now and then between all the adventures in this week of Christmas. Hope you are all safe, healthy and having an enjoyable Christmas week too.

I think your talking about the show “wife swap”. I watched it a few times a while back. Not sure if it’s still on though. I know they also had “celebrity wife swap”, not sure if that’s still on either. My son has been wanting to watch Polar Express but I can’t seem to find it on any of the programming I have. A Castle for Christmas sounds like a good one, I like corny Christmas movies so I’ll probably check it out. 😁

    1. That’s mostly the break I am writing about in that post. But you have to be so careful now days with how we all vent, especially on social media sites. Sometimes I forget, but I try to edit myself a lot lately. Biting that old tongue for a long time now. Christmas should be a time of getting to know our neighbors and making loving memories with our families. Trying to keep it that way this year for my family.

      1. You keep doing that. We need to tune the world out from time to time and right now is the time to do that. You have a wonderful Christmas with your family!!

      2. Thank you, you too. You and your family have the best Christmas ever, you are out of that scary hospital. I still need to visit your site later, see how you all are doing. I did not have a chance to visit a lot this week. I am off to make a Gingerbread house now.

      3. I haven’t done too much of an update. It will be a month soon since I left the hospital but it seems like yesterday and i don’t remember a thing about December 😬 it is so weird.

      4. That’s just your mind protecting you maybe, who wants to remember something so scary. I know I wouldn’t.
