A patriotic doll for July 4th.

This is a project I finished years ago. I picked up a bag of plain wooden dolls to paint from Goodwill. I didn’t know how to decorate them at first. I had several varieties of wool yarn so I decided to use that to wrap around the body to create a dress.

For arms I used some felting wool and needle felted two arms.

I used tacky glue to glue the wool yarn on the wooden doll body.

Then I painted a whimsical face on her.

I don’t know where you can purchase the plain wooden doll bodies, I’m sure they are online somewhere. You know how thrift stores are, you never know what you are going to find in those grab bags. Thought I share this just in case it inspires you to go out there and make your own holiday dolls. If you can’t find any you can always use small wooden clothespins and decorate mini versions of these dolls. I’m off for July, thank you for stopping by for a visit. Happy crafting everyone.
