Have you ever looked at the packaging your items come in? Food packaging, toys and other products always have plastic packaging that usually can be turned into molds.

One time I had a slime ball of some sort that I bought for my children years ago when they were little and looking at the packaging it came in, I noticed it had a nice round shape that I could use for a mold for craft projects. It became a turtle mold.
Another time I had some packaging that I turned into plaster mushrooms.
I had another mold that looked like a game board of tic tac toe. I forgot to take a photo of the packaging and to be honest plastic packaging doesn’t photograph well.
The only bad thing about using plastic packaging for molds is that they don’t last for long. After awhile they loose their shapes or they crack.

Next time you buy a product, before throwing away the packing it came in, look it over and see if you can make something with the packaging.

Plaster of Paris is sold in most hobby and craft stores. It’s pretty inexpensive too.

This little game board is made of plaster and the tiny Lady Bugs are made from a bucket of air drying clay. Paint pens were used to paint the bugs and a mixture of acrylic/spray/ and paint pens were used for the plaster game boards. Happy recycling everyone.
