Recipe:
1 cup of all purpose flour sifted
1 tsp. Baking powder (aluminum free)
1 pinch of salt
1/3 cup of sugar
Mix all dry ingredients first.

Wet ingredients:
1 egg
2 Tbsp. Melted butter
1 tsp. Vanilla extract.
1/3 cup of milk
Mix all wet ingredients then add to dry ingredients. Peel and core two apples then chop into small cube like pieces. Cook in 2 Tbsp. Of butter until soft, then sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Fold into cake mixture.

Icing glaze-
½ cup powdered sugar
½ tsp. Vanilla extract.
1-2 Tbsp. Of milk.

Put glaze to side in dish to dip doughnuts in once cool. Or you can use store bought cream cheese, or vanilla frosting to dip tops of your doughnuts into. I also added chopped walnuts but that’s optional.

After you have added the chopped apple pieces into your cake mix, add cake batter to a doughnut bake pan using a spoon. Bake for for 10-12 minutes at 350F. Cool on rack then add frosting by dipping tops of cool doughnuts into frosting and sprinkle with your favorite toppings.

I used a basic doughnut recipe but I wanted an apple doughnut so I changed things up a bit. You can do blueberry doughnuts too, that would be yummy as well.

Or you can make chocolate doughnuts. Just skip the apples. Happy doughnut making. Make some of these for Christmas morning breakfast.
