Our Little Red House

This activity will help children who need a little extra help with speech and language skills. It also covers fine motor skills and some sensory play.

You will need:
Air drying clay
assorted paints
One fine tip black sharpie pen
Glue
Clean TP or paper towel rolls
scissors
pencil
paper strips for paper mache
yarn (optional)
card stock or card board.

To make your little house, cut your TP roll in half, use the other half for the roof. Draw a rectangle and then fold over to glue over your little house for the roof.

For the middle part of the roof draw out a triangle to glue to the center of your roof, add folding taps to hold in place.

After your house has dried for a day, for extra support paper mache over the house then let that dry for another day. After that has dried you can paint and decorate your house. For added details outline your house with colorful yarn.

Make small clay figurines to use in your houses.

Work on prepositions using your clay figures. Cats were a favorite animal with our children when they were little, use what motivates your child and make small clay toys of their favorite animals. Give your children speech lessons on prepositions. Put your cat in the house, put your cat next to the house. You get the idea. Or this is a fun toy to help teach pretend play skills.
