First for the fun part, unless you are somewhere that is packed with snow right now…first part is to go for a nature walk. Collect an assortment of leaves, take them home and paint them with paint pens, sharpies or acrylic paints then let dry.

Paint and decorate both sides. Then using hole punchers create all kinds of shapes from your leaves. Put your confetti into a small glass jar, add seeds for a little something extra. Then label your nature confetti. You can either use a sticker label or a paper label inside the bottle. Happy Christmas crafting.

Unfortunately I never got around to buying glass bottle but I had some plastic travel bottles that I used instead. Use Christmas stickers for added details.

ASD tips- If your child doesn’t like touching new textures when out walking and collecting leaves then use one of those grabber sticks. It’s a fun way to encourage your child to participate and the gripper handle helps with fine motor skills through squeezing the handle at the end and grasping items from the ground, like a fun game.

The important part is getting your child outdoors to enjoy nature, the sun, the smells and the sounds all around…helps with body awareness and anxiety issues.

You can also simplify the painting part of the leaves by getting a small tray and adding some paint inside the tray. Add enough paint to cover the whole bottom of tray. Then add leaves and spread them around covering them completely. Hang leaves to dry on an outside string (like clothes lines) until dry. Or skip the paint and just use the natural color of the leaves.
