It wasn’t a lot, thank goodness for that. I already have enough stuff that I need to organize from our move. I’m getting there though, everything is finally finding a place. I’m especially happy to have a place to store my arts and craft supplies.
I had a list in my head of items I was interested in. Windows were at the top of that list. We are always looking for windows.
I was also on the hunt for some prizes for our traditional crackers we make every year for some British friends of ours. I really enjoy that tradition of ours…and I love making a gingerbread house every Christmas.
I didn’t really find most of those items. But I did find a lot of fun items that weren’t on my list. Isn’t that always the case anyway? That’s the fun part. What’s out there…what treasures will we find?
I had some quarters left at the end of it all. People were telling everyone that whatever you have, take it, because they didn’t want to pack anything back up again.
I bought a long beige cardigan sweater for my daughter ($1), several baskets (ranging in prices of .50 cents to $2), some tiny kid prizes (.10 cents to .25 cents each), A ceramic chicken ($3), a ceramic chicken pitcher ($1), Cast iron bunny ($1). Cast iron llama family ($3), Wooden vintage Christmas ornaments (.50 cents to $4) a bunny vase ($1), some old tins and a glass bottle ( .25 cents each) Puzzle books (.10 cents each) and a really pretty acrylic heart (.50 cents) .
My basket collection. I use these baskets like holiday decor, bringing them out now and then to change things up inside my home. The larger ones will be for store displays.
My husband bought two thermoses. One was $20 and the other was $1. The big thermos reminded me of the one my dad used to have that he took to work with him when I was a kid. The little one that my husband paid a dollar for, reminded me of the one I took to school lunch with me when I was a kid. We used to have the coolest lunch boxes back then and they came with a plastic thermos. Mostly they were characters from Saturday morning cartoons or tv shows we loved watching back then.
That’s pretty much it. I didn’t really find anything I really needed but I did find some fun prizes for the British crackers I still need to make. I loved talking to different people, hearing their stories, meeting strangers. That is always the best part.
Happy shopping adventures everyone. As always, stay safe out there and God bless and protect you all.
I will be storing bandages, and cotton swaps in this chicken container. Making a little first aide kit. $6Found some super tiny ceramic pumpkins for my Fall Terrariums I will be making later. $1 for them all.A cute bear ornament to add to a Christmas gift basket I will be giving out, .50 cents.A small muffin tin for our outdoor oven we bake in. When it’s hot we don’t bake in our inside kitchen. $1I bought a bunch of brand new puzzle books that have never been used, they were .10 cents each. All books at one table were a dime each. Cookbooks, drama, mysteries, and romance. It’s fun working on puzzles before bed, just calming. I’m learning Sudoku right now. There were all kinds of fun puzzle books for sale at that table. Some of the puzzle pages I will be tearing out to add to the British crackers I’m making. These old tins were .25 cents each. I’m going to make miniature shadow boxes with them. Or a tiny art box filled with a little brush, paints and paper for nature painting.Paid .50 cents for this, it will also be added to a gift basket. Brand new and still in it’s box. My cast iron animal for the year, it was $2. It’s about 4 inches.Another gift, I will add dried flowers to this one before I gift it out…$1. I collect these ornaments, they are not so easy to find here in the state I moved to. There were more of them in the city I used to live in. So far I have only been able to find 5 this year. I used to find these little wooden ornaments by the bag full…not anymore. Also, they are more expensive here. These were only .25 cents each, so they were cheap and they are all ornaments I don’t have in my collection. This wooden ornament was $4, which is the most I have ever paid for one of these little wooden ornaments. I don’t have this one in my collection and I thought it was really cute. I just need to clean it up carefully. It’s a bit dirty. This glass container was given to me. The lady at the booth had a whole table of free items that she didn’t want to pack up. I took this home and clipped some baby spider plants and added it to this glass with some water and those plants have already doubled in size already.Prizes I picked up for less than .25 cents each. They are going into the crackers I’m making…I call them British poppers. This little chicken pitcher will be in one of my garden trays that I will use to water some of the smaller pots I have growing right now, it’s cost was $1.These were all .25 cents each. They were bought from the man who loves ice cream…his table. I also bought some jewelry making supplies, and beads from him. These are little pull back racers. I have 6 crackers to make. I figure once opened, they can all race with one another. Super tiny cast iron lamas. They were $3 for all 3. I guess that makes me break a rule here…I have a rule to only buy one cast iron item a year, so as not to over do a collection…don’t want so many it becomes a big hoarding mess. These were very tiny and unusual as most of my cast iron figurines are at least the size of my hand and larger. These were super cute and had a ton of detail.
