Blogmas day 4…Giant gingerbread houses.

We decided to go check out some gingerbread houses. I haven’t started making my gingerbread houses yet but I am always up for ideas out there. It’s so much fun making them yourself. I make super tiny ones and my traditional sized house. This year I might make a smaller version then the regular sized house.

The gingerbread houses were in a huge hotel that is up on a hill overlooking a lake. The drive up reminded me of the drive to Our Little Red House in Arizona. It was a little bit scary but at least this drive was paved. The road to Our Little Red House was mostly dirt and up high on a cliff. In Arizona it’s huge mountains and cliffs. Where I live now it’s big hills and dark scary woods. Really thick scary woods too.

This hotel had a theater in it and and an indoor and outdoor pool.

We were just there to see these amazing houses. I had heard about this being a tradition with people to stop by every year and check out what gingerbread house designs they had. I was hoping to get some ideas for my own houses.

I loved the candy rocks they used. There is a specialty candy store around where we live, I will have to go check that out and see what little candies they have for decorating houses.

They used tiny teddies a lot and I think cereal pieces.

I can’t really pick a favorite. I liked them all.

There was a beautiful nativity set too.

I thought the Santa’s were a little creepy though. Their faces were a bit scary looking. I can imagine children being overwhelmed by Santa characters.

The trees throughout the hotel were all decorated nicely too.

They had an ice cream candy shop near the movie theater, and an outside balcony that overlooked the lake. It was cold though and the wind was very chilly so I didn’t stand out there for too long.

All in all it was a fun little road trip. Now I have to get busy making my own gingerbread house. Happy baking adventures everyone.
