Last night I went to a candlelight service. There are no words good enough to describe how beautiful it was. Even the toddler sitting in front of me participated in the festivities, for awhile at least, watching as his Daddy snag along.
It was 2 hours long. The baby did have moments of wanting to stretch those tiny legs now and then, but he also watched in wonderment as the choir filled the cathedral singing and holding candles.
Everything was dark and then from behind all of us we could hear the choir coming, and slowly, ever so slowly, they drifted into the church illuminated by the soft glow of candlelight framing their faces as they sang in unison.
Wow…just WOW! I can’t describe in words alone just how special this was. I do believe angels were there singing along with everyone, that’s how special it sounded. I don’t always have my camera with me, and if I did I would try to show you as well, how the light came all around us, reflecting what we all felt deep inside of us. There was no darkness that overcame the light that night, when everyone walked into the church.
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.’ John 1:5
I don’t believe even a camera could have captured the beauty in that church last night. The best I can do is share with you all some of the songs that were sung that night. If you have never been to a candlelight service, I recommend going to one this Christmas, it’s so much more beautiful in person.
Have a Merry Christmas everyone from all of us at Our Little Red House.
