The other week when we stopped off at one of the restore shops, they had a whole box of old magazines. The name of this magazine always makes me laugh. It’s a magazine that was everywhere back in Arizona, and now here in the Ozarks I’m seeing it as well. I picked up a couple to read, it’s filled with all kinds of gardening tips, among other things. And at .50 cents a copy that was too good a deal to pass on.

Then I got to thinking…what would I name a magazine if I got to choose a subject matter that seemed crazy to combine the two together, just funny to put side by side, what would that name be…you know? Like this magazines title, who came up with this, makes me laugh. I even had a friend back in Arizona who subscribed to this magazine…it always made me laugh when ever I saw it.
I would name my magazine Thrifting and felting. Those are two things I love to do when I have free time. Unfortunately I would most likely be the only one buying it, so the magazine would not be on the shelves for too long, meaning they would have to discontinue it because it would only have one buyer more than likely…me.
When I was in charge of the magazine rack at the bookstore I worked at , I got to shop for all kinds of unique magazines to supply the store with…that was so much fun. Some would sale and some wouldn’t.
Anyway, since my magazine of Thrifting and felting will never exist I did the next best thing…I lived it instead. I went Thrifting and came home and finished up some of my felting projects. The subject matter this month was all about Spring. Whenever I had some free time on my hands I worked on some home decor to put around my house, hopefully putting everyone in the Spring mood.
I also went shopping for a small vase. I found a couple items out thrifting for Spring decor.

I went to two antique shops, or what some like to lovingly call Junk shops. The first shop I stopped off at I ran into a new friend we met here, she is also what we are referred to in our own country now as…transplants, we are both transplants. She is from California and we are from Arizona.
I like to instead refer to us as American refugees actually, because most have left violent cities to find some peace to feel free to be whoever they are politically or religiously, without having that held against them. Sadly we are not even wanted in our own country of origin. Some people in other cities do not like any outsiders moving in, they blame them for all the problems that are happening around the world, they think it is only in their city or town that people are showing up in, so they treat their own citizens like strangers that they don’t want around, cruelly too..you will run into those types occasionally.
Usually what happens is that all the transplants get together and start socializing with one another, sharing stories and making new friends. Then you have the locals that are friendly and kind, there are some out there, they love the adventures of meeting new people and learning about other places and experiences. It all works out in the end.
You find your group, you find your people and the rest they say…is history. And oh boy are we ever living in historical times right now. I don’t like what I am seeing with the weird stuff, like aliens (which I believe are not that and something altogether more sinister, hint…they come from below where it’s very hot) and files and ugly behaviors…so much to mess with our minds now a days. As a mother…this is so worrisome for the future my children I brought into this world. What are we doing to them.
I have to remind myself to just give it all to God to take care of…this is a such a huge battle, it’s all over the place…but me writing or even saying that will get me some side eyes…just being honest, and that’s okay too, not everyone believes the same things. Just give it to God.
There is too much going on to distract and turn us all against each other, and that is not a place anyone should be. These little brakes of sanity for us all, like going out thrifting, road trips with love ones, and making something special with our hands…sometimes we just need a mental time out to rest the weary as they say.
Our hearts and souls are taking alot in right now. It’s so nice when we are able to just be in our moments of the things that bring us peace. Thrifting and felting…I think it is a good combination, maybe a magazine like that would sell after all.

And here are a couple of Easter projects I felted this month.

There wasn’t a whole lot that I bought on my day of thrifting. Mostly what I am buying are products to add to the shop once finished, or anything I can design into a product display rack.
