The storm is over.

Day two of snowmageddon and so far it felt like the Winter storm from last year and the year before that. I wonder why this one came with so much terror. Exploding trees, a whole grid collapse headed our way, depending on who you listened to in the media world.

There was more humor with this storm though, I did notice that. People were posting storm memes all over social media. Meanwhile the news media dug in more with fearful reports of the whole system collapsing all around us. It did generate shopping. People were out everywhere emptying those shelves. I saw a little panic buying.

There was chatter that Christmas sales were low, not a lot of people out there buying things this Christmas. A new conspiracy theory was born…was the fear of the storm generated to create a buying frenzy to make up for the slow Christmas? Who knows anymore…it sometimes does seem like a circus show at times. It can get a little bit too much when you really pay attention too much to all those different images and screens.

Anyway, here it was day two and looking out there at all the beautiful sparkling snow, like millions of diamonds I decided to bundle up and go out there and try to make a mini snowman. I did that last year and the year before. That’s the best part about snow…snowmen.

You can make your own tiny snowman using an old sock, just cut it up and make a little snowcap, make a pom pom to add to the top. You can make clay eyes and a clay nose to add to your tiny snowman or use beads or buttons to create a face. I needle felted my snowman’s face. Add extra buttons and a scarf. I made my tiny scarf from an old blanket I bought second hand. I will turn the extra fabric into pet beds.

So how was your Winter storm if you were from this part of the country? I hope it was not as bad as the news had some of us afraid of. I hope you all had a typical Winter too. I don’t like hearing about extreme conditions where people get hurt. So where ever you are , hope you all are safe, warm and healthy. Happy snowman building everyone.

I have to share a nailed it moment. The first set of eyes I felted were too big. My snowman looked a little freaky. I just went back in and felted smaller eyes. They made me laugh. They remind me of silly bug eyes.

UPDATE….Okay…so I just got an update on this storm, apparently some states didn’t do so well and some people did end up hurt, so big prayers for them and their families for their loses. That is not so good to hear…and, some people are without electricity so prayers for that too, and hopefully that gets taken care of soon too.

Now they are saying another storm is headed back…this Winter did turn out to be one for the history books, at least in some areas that is. Where I live, thankfully, most people are looking for sleds, doing ice plunges, and searching for any mom and pops opened for eating out. Oh…and the Winter memes are on high over here. Please stay safe out there you guys. God bless and protect you all.

  1. I love the snowman 🙂 and I had a chuckle that the impending storm warnings were to increase post Christmas sales – ha! No wait maybe…like you said who knows!

    1. Thank you, I am just glad our electricity didn’t go out, that was scary to hear, although we have tornadoes where I live and electricity goes out a lot then. I just heard that some states didn’t do so well in this storm, so I hope that gets cleared up soon because now they are saying another one is headed back…great. Although that may mean more little smowmen to make. I am making up extra kits to give out in the community for the kiddos, school is closed for a couple of days.

That is such an adorable little snowman! When I lived in Latvia, building a snowman was our favourite pastime because nothing comes close to the look of sheer joy on the children’s faces at the process and finished product of something they created with you. Thanks for sharing, and have a good day 🙂 Aiva xx

    1. Thank you Aiva, I am making up for all those years I lived in a desert growing up around all those cacti we didn’t get snowmen. If life gives us a whole bunch of snow…we all should have fun making snowmen, even little ones count. Hope you and your family are all doing well. Some day I would love to live by the sea, that’s my next goal…we will see, life is always wonderful like that, always full of surprises.
