A visit to an art museum.

One of my favorite things to do on a day off is visit a museum. This museum I am sharing with you today is a very popular one and it’s very impressive. I have shared photos from my visits to this museum before. It’s one of my walking trails as well. I heard somewhere they spent over a billion dollars to build this museum and it’s free to the community from The Waltons. The museum is called Crystal Bridges.

I love how there are exhibits where you get to become part of a creator yourself by adding something you do as well.

If you are homeschooling then you know how important museums are. Learning about history and seeing actual materials from the past help children to understand things better. Plus it is so much fun to get out and explore and see things up close.

One of my favorite exhibits, a room full of light up paper lanterns . The lanterns change colors as you stand in the room.

We don’t just go there to view art, but also to walk the trails. The museum is in the middle of the woods with all kinds of beautiful nature and wildlife around. There are little bridges and creeks everywhere.

They also have classes and free events where you can just be creative making something. I love how everyone is so friendly. Lots of smiles at the museum.

One of my favorite rooms is a room where there are all kinds of board games and art supplies to just relax and listen to music. They have a record player in the room with different artists to listen to. If you have children that just need a quiet place to take a break, then these types of rooms are perfect for that. There are even art books to look through, a really nice room.

Children learn best by face to face experiences, getting out there and doing things themselves. Sitting in a classroom for hours and hours can be such a sad way to learn. Repetition doesn’t really teach, that’s memorization…so please, even if you are not homeschooling, pick a day at least once a month to go out with your kids and do some real hands on stuff. Your children will love it. I know a lot of you parents out there do these things, so keep up the good work. I promise you, in the end, all that work will pay off.

We get up early when going to the museum, this museum gets crowded fast. It becomes almost impossible to find a parking spot if you go too late. The early bird always gets the worm, and it is so much more peaceful and quiet before the crowds come. If you are close you can always ride your bikes to the museum, the bike trails around the cities are pretty amazing too.

I don’t know what this art represents. I forgot my reading glasses so today was just a day to walk around and just look at things, enjoying the art and be inside where it was nice and cool out of the heat. A fun summer time activity.

The light reflecting off the glass around this flag was so cool when I got home and uploaded the photos from today. I love how it turned out.

Outside was a little warm but not terrible, not like Phoenix temps. It was in the 80’s with a breeze and hot shower humidity, but the breeze was nice as it help keep us cool, cool air, not blow dryer hot air like we were used to in the city we came from.

I walked by this and I really thought it was a man just taking a break in the art museum, he looked so real. You have to see it in person to appreciate the detail in this art piece.

The family art room to create in was full of play doh everywhere. It reminded me of some sort of scene in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory. I didn’t get a wide shot because there were so many children in there having the time of their lives. I try to be very careful when taking photos to not expose children . This was a very happy room and so many colors everywhere it was craziness.

More play doh art. You pick up a cup of doh and fill the room with it. It was really impressive.

Outside splash pad.

These cacti were all so pretty.

The splash pad up close.

So much pink.

It’s amazing what you can do with some colored pencils.

I loved this sweet little bunny, another color pencil piece.

The gift shop.

Happy adventures everyone. Happy 4th of July, have a beautiful day celebrating our 250th anniversary. Stay safe out there and God bless you all.
