Yesterday was Halloween and today is the first day of November, can you believe it’s already November? I can’t, it’s all so fast now.
Driving through the neighborhood I watched as one of our neighbors was in her shed pulling out boxes of huge ornaments to start getting ready for holiday decorating. It was like Halloween is over lets get to Christmas now.

The Fall leaves are starting to drop all around us more each day. Our yards are completely covered with leaves. We leave ours so we have a huge supply of fire flies when Spring and Summer roll in. I love watching the fireflies dance around in those hours before the sun goes down. Some neighbors burn the leaves, but we leave them for the little critters to have shelter and eggs for next years critters, resting easy through the Winter cold.

Walking down to the creek in the mornings, and walking through the woods, I look up and see leaf after leaf fluttering down around me. This is my favorite confetti.

It’s so much better in person when experiencing this, standing so very still as you look up and watch the leaves slowly float down to land into the water. The water pushes the leaf down like a tiny little sail boat. I’m not even going to try to explain that kind of pretty here in a blog, it’s just not possible, it’s something you need to do yourself. That’s why I’m always pushing for everyone to please go out there and go on your own nature walks. I’m telling you, it’s so pretty and peaceful.

There is chatter all around us telling everyone to prepare for something, but what is this “Something”, no one knows, and that is really unnerving, very unsettling. 90 days of supplies. In all honesty I believe that if anything were to happen, with the way the world is out there right now…do you really believe after 90 days…help will actually come from the ones that are suppose to be there to help us? Think about that really hard now. We all have been through C19…how can you forget that. Seems like the world is upside down at times. That old sickness is still interfering in our lives, same old story and broken record being played over and over.
Christmas celebrations are near. Some people just don’t enjoy the idea of that kind of happiness and Joy in the world…so the screens are an easy way to stir up fear and panic to ruin what is coming up, those happy Christmas celebrations where people get together, sharing, helping, gifting and loving each other. The patterns lately are that something always gets thrown out there in the world to destroy that kind of happiness. I started noticing this after 2020. Christmas is always getting a wrench thrown in to try and ruin it. People still go on with life celebrating with love…good for them.
The best thing to do I have learned is to go on with each day in happiness, do the things you love, don’t get stuck in the ugliness of those images and messages that are being put into your heads through your screens. Just go on being you and live every day. God does not want us to live in a constant state of fear or flight. Is it flight or fight…or fight or flight. Oh my goodness…you get the point. We need to stop this nonsense and stop being drawn into conflicts or fear.
There is nothing wrong with a few extra items in case of an emergency. Sometimes storms do happen…these are all events we all have experienced before. So go out and get a few things, nothing wrong with that. That’s what I say…just be you and go on living but be cautious as always. End your days with gratefulness and joy in your hearts, even if it is something really simple and little that happened to you that day. Find the good things…they are there, and be thankful for that. Some people only know how to exist in chaos, I feel sorry for people who love the conflict, what a sad life they exist in.

Anyway, I decided to go out and have some peace and happiness for myself, and went out to forage for some nature supplies for Christmas decorations. Seeing our neighbor pulling out boxes of her decor reminded me of how fun it is with creating those little ornaments for our trees. This year I will try to stick with a woodland theme since I am surrounded by it anyway.

The fog is back, lots of moisture in the air again. It was raining a little so I took an umbrella, then the rain stopped. I don’t mind a little rain. There are hardly other walkers out when the rain starts, little sprinkles are not so bad, but some people just don’t like getting a little wet I guess. I was on the hunt for anything unique to turn into a Christmas ornament. I found some fun little bits and bobs.

I am really loving all the colors, not as many as past Falls, it was a dry and hot summer this year. There are still colors out there though and my favorites are the very bright reddish orange leaves.

I found a field of Mullen, which is great for tea during the cold and flu season for respiratory congestion. The field had wild onions everywhere too. Research plants yourself before foraging though and check with your doctor if you are on other medications that may interfere with that. Even though we all know where those medications come from too…plants and nature, all from God.

On this walk the critters I ran into were five deer, one tiny adorable chipmunk, three huge chunky hawks that had just caught a squirrel and were making a huge show of squawking loudly about it. And several beautiful blue jays everywhere.

I still haven’t seen the otters yet, my husband has a couple of times, but I keep looking and nothing is showing up. Maybe they left.
Here are some more photos of that walk. I will try to remember to share what I found and some of the ornaments I came up with in designing them.

Happy walking adventures everyone. Stay safe out there and God bless you all. Please keep a Blogging friend of mine in your prayers, Lisa from Boon dock Ramblings, her and her family need prayers right now, thank you.https://wordpress.com/reader/users/lisahoweler

This is so beautiful and such a wonderful reminder. While so much of the world is caught up in panic and fearmongering right now, finding joy in creation is the perfect antidote. His Word tells us to “fear not’ and seeing you finding peace and beauty in nature is such a testament to that. Love this perspective so much!

Thank you. I hope more people understand this message that you just commented too, it is 100% true. God does not want His children in a constant state of fear. Have a beautiful peace filled week.

Beautiful post and photos, my friend. I find that autumn is an ideal time to gather natural art and craft materials for the upcoming winter months. My girls are still little and eager to participate in our arts and crafts projects, so anything from seeds and nuts and colourful leaves to pinecones and twigs comes in handy. I have always loved how gathering materials turns a basic walk into an exciting outdoor game while teaching children about seasonal changes. As a result, they gain a deeper appreciation for nature, much like how the landscape around our parks changes each autumn! Thanks for sharing, and have a good day 🙂 Aiva xx
